Hello the onlyone.You may have done the right choice,and it sounds very well to my hears.In fact ,i didn't analysed the chords changes ,and i focus more on the bass line ,so 'm not able to say if you're in the right place concerning harmony and modal way of playing...But for me it's constructed ,very logical and even melodious ,wich is a very difficult thing to do on modal harmony.The idea of playing a riff is excellent ,'cause the music becomes more enthralling for the listener ...don't have the time to be bored. Really interesting.
PS : You're perfectly right with your comment .I'm not very interested in modal music ,i don't understand it,and it's not really attractive to me...So i'm a bit lost on that kind of tune (i'm a bit lazy concerning chords visualisation ,and i have some kind of difficulties to figure all the scales that belongs to the chords,a real defiance for me)),but this one seemed to be , more or less, close to a tonal piece of music ,so i wanted to try some impro over it ,and i record it as well...
